Many of you know we call Katherine "baby Katie". It is fun to say and for some reason it has just fits for the stage of life she in. Well, now that Katie is 6 months old, I have been debating if it is time to start calling her "little lady Katie". In the past month or so Katie has developed new talents to make me think she is not such a baby anymore!
First as you can tell from the above picture, Katie can sit up all by herself, she can sit for about 30 minutes. She will sit and play with her toys or whatever she can get her hands on while I try to accomplish other things- it is great! Katie is also getting really good at using her hands. She can hold her own bottle now, and she can pick up her own pacifier and put it in her mouth in the proper orientation. This is great for when she is put down to sleep. Speaking of sleeping, she is no longer sleeping in her swaddling blanket (otherwise how would she be able to demonstrate the above skill of putting her pacifier in her mouth??).
Not only can Katie sit by herself, we have started putting her in her stroller sans the carrier- she loves it, she will sometimes put both hands on the bar and look around like she is queen of the stroller!
Katie is also now fitting into shoes that have an actual size. That's right, she officially wears an infant size 1 shoe. Of course they are still just for looks/keeping her feet warm but these shoes will now actually stay on her feet!
This past week Katie has started to go in the big little girl swing at the park. Yep, she is not in the little little girl swing (the one that is a swinging chair). She loves to swing, she smiles and coos while swinging.
One of my favorite things about "little lady Katie" is that she does not spit up nearly as much as "baby Katie". She goes through less laundry and does not stink of milk!
Despite what Jared thinks, Katie's hair is getting longer on top. You can not argue with that surprisingly curly mohawk!
While I know Katie is growing and developing and will continue to do so, I think we will stick with "baby Katie" for now. Maybe in another 6 months we will revisit a possible name maturity upgrade- you know when she can crawl/walk or put food in her own mouth without making the largest mess this side of the Mississippi!
