In mid July we had a hail storm that destroyed the back side of our house. The up side is that we are getting a new roof, 10 new windows, our entire house painted, our deck repaired, and our interior wood flooring sanded down and refinished. On the down side we have had the hassle of dealing with our home-owners insurance company (who have been great- it is just always not fun!), picking a contractor, paying our deductible, and the loss of part of our vegetable garden.
Jared and I have been working on building a stone staircase in our from the gate into our back yard down to where the grass starts. It has been a lot of work, shoveling, digging, more shoveling, moving big rocks and small rocks, and more shoveling. We are not quite done yet and the only picture I have is the one below. We have since cemented in the sides and rises of each step- stay tuned for final pictures, we are hoping to finish them sometime this month!
In the middle of August we went camping with our friends the Baldwins. We had a great time exploring the rocks around our camp site, hiking to Gem Lake, good food, and great company!
The water was of course very cold, but Katie did not mind.
Until she fell all the way in.
Not to worry. When the crying stopped she was able to enjoy one of her favorite new snacks.
And then she enjoyed a nice easy ride down the mountain. One hiker even asked us if she was okay.
Katie started walking about a month and a half ago. She is getting quite good at it, she even has a cute little run she will do if being chased. She has had a few good diggers and most days looks like we beat her up just a little.
Notice the scab under her left eye. Otherwise Katie is just as mischievous as ever. We can't believe she turns one in a few short weeks! How we love that girl!
Lastly, we are pregnant again! We are excited to have a new little one at the end of February. In about a month we will find out the gender. Can't wait! I hope you are all doing well and enjoy some more recent pictures of Katie.
